he is an elected or appointed official].
(c) (c) [If] EXCEPT FOR APPOINTED OR ELECTED
OFFICIALS, IF an employee's service with the county
terminates before his retirement date and before he has
completed ten years of service [or five years of service,
if he is an elected or appointed official,] he will be
paid his participant's contributions with credited
interest and he will cease to be a participant. Any
participant's contributions paid into the plan by other
than the employee shall remain therein whenever the
employee ceases to be a participant.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this
Ordinance shall take effect forty—five (45) days from the
date it becomes law.

AN ORDINANCE to repeal and re-enact, with
amendments, Section 1—221(b) of the Anne Arundel County
Code (1967 Edition and Supplements), Title 1,
"Administration", Subtitle 2, "Personnel", Article III,
"Employees' Retirement Plan", to include certain
employees of the Anne Arundel County Housing Authority in
the Employees' Retirement Plan.
SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNTY COUNCIL OF
ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MARYLAND, That Section 1-221(b) of
the Anne Arundel County Code (1967 Edition and
Supplements), Title 1, "Administration", Subtitle 2,
"Personnel", Article III, "Employees' Retirement Plan",
be, and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:
Section 1—221.
(b) The term "employee" means any paid employee of
the county (including school crossing guards, but
excluding all other employees paid on the Police and Fire
Schedule); and any paid employee of the Maryland
Association of Counties Incorporated AND THE ANNE ARUNDEL
COUNTY HOUSING AUTHORITY whose regular employment is for
not less than five hundred (500) hours per year and for
not less than four (4) months per year.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this
