these adults the assistance they need to keep them from
returning to institutions; and
WHEREAS, In many cases their needs can be met with
existing programs, but such needs must first be identified;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, That the
Governor President of the Senate and the Speaker of the
House appoint a Task Force composed of members of the
Departments of Human Resources, Corrections, and Health and
Mental Hygiene, with representatives from the General
Assembly and the public, to study the needs of these
unfortunate adults, identify the scope of the problem, make
suggestions for the alleviation of the problem, and present
a report on their study to the General Assembly by January
1, 1980; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be sent to the
Honorable Harry Hughes, Governor of the State of Maryland
President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House,
Signed May 1, 1979.

A House Joint Resolution concerning
Multiuse Government Centers
FOR the purpose of requesting the Governor to appoint a
Commission with a certain membership to study the
feasibility, merits, and economic impact of local
governments in developing multiuse governmental
centers; requesting the Commission to work in
cooperation with various levels of government to
consider the potential of consolidating local services
within local county and municipally—owned facilities
and recycle tax funds back to the local subdivisions;
requesting the Commission to study the potential of
converting existing and projected surplus school
facilities within local subdivisions into multiuse
governmental centers; requesting the Commission to
prepare a report for dissemination to local governments
showing the advantages and disadvantages of the
multiuse governmental centers; and requesting the
Commission to report their findings to the Governor by
a certain date.
The State Government of Maryland should continuously
strive to provide assistance, where requested, to local
