WILLIAM DONALD SCHAEFER, Governor

(1)  Coordinating policy, planning, and development for
child day care programs among all State agencies,
commissions, councils, boards, and task forces;

(2)  Serving as an information clearing house and
referral office to businesses, local jurisdictions,
prospective providers, community groups, and the general
public on available child care services, government
regulations, and financing for child care;

(3)  Promoting and marketing a public - private
partnership to meet the child care needs of Maryland's
employees, employers, and families;

(4)  Developing a public information and education
program on child care needs and services;

(5)  Providing technical assistance and support to
employers, employees, and providers;

(6)  Monitoring special projects on child day care such
as a model child day care center.

(7)  Act as a liaison to local and federal governments
on Intergovernmental issues relating to child day care.

C. The Coordinator shall make recommendations to the
Governor and appropriate Department heads on policy and
budgetary initiatives for child day care.

(Amends Executive Order 01.01.1987.21)

WHEREAS, The importance of prevention programs for juvenile
delinquency has long been recognized; and

WHEREAS, There is a continuing need to develop innovative
approaches and effective responses to delinquent behavior;
and

WHEREAS, There is a wide variety of State and local agencies,
organizations, commissions and advisory groups active in the
juvenile delinquency prevention and the juvenile justice
system; and

WHEREAS, There is a need to improve the coordination, planning
