A PERSON WHO VIOLATES ANY PROVISION OF THIS TITLE IS GUILTY
OF A MISDEMEANOR AND ON CONVICTION IS SUBJECT TO A FINE NOT
EXCEEDING $500 OR IMPRISONMENT NOT EXCEEDING 6 MONTHS OR BOTH.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived
without substantive change from former Art. 75 1/2, §
18(a)(9) and (b).

Former Art. 75 1/2, § 18(a)(9) and (b) provided,
respectively, that a person may not violate any
provision of former Art. 75 1/2 and that any violation
of former Art. 75 1/2, § 18 is a misdemeanor. The
effect of these former provisions, when read together,
was to provide that any violation of former Art. 75
1/2 was a misdemeanor. This section is revised
accordingly.

The former minimum penalty of $100 is deleted to
conform to the statement of legislative policy in Art.
27, § 643 of the Code, which sets forth the general
rule that, notwithstanding a statutory minimum
penalty, a court may impose a lesser penalty of the
same character.

SUBTITLE 6. SHORT TITLE; TERMINATION OF TITLE.

14-601. SHORT TITLE.

THIS TITLE MAY BE CITED AS THE "MARYLAND PROFESSIONAL
ENGINEERS ACT".

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language added to
conform to similar sections in other titles of this
article and to provide a convenient reference to this
title.

14-602. TERMINATION OF TITLE.

SUBJECT TO THE EVALUATION AND REESTABLISHMENT PROVISIONS OF
THE MARYLAND PROGRAM EVALUATION ACT, THIS TITLE AND ALL
REGULATIONS ADOPTED UNDER THIS TITLE SHALL TERMINATE AND BE OF NO
EFFECT AFTER JULY 1, 1993.
