Anne Arundel County Court Certificates of Freedom, 1810-1831

    Maryland Anne Arundel County to wit
               I hereby Certify to all whom it doth or
may concern That it hath been proved to my
satisfaction that the bearer hereof a negro
man named Cale or Caleb aged about forty
years about five feet seven Inches high
brown Complexion a small scar upon the
right side of the upper lip and another upon
the chin is the Identical person manumitted
by Nicholas [illegible] by deed dated the
seventh day of November Eighteen hundred
and nine, that his freedom Commenced on the
first day of January eighteen hundred and
twenty two that he was raised in the
County aforesaid
        Issued the 4th day of February 1822


    Maryland, Anne Arundel County to wit
               I hereby Certify to all whom it doth or
may concern that it hath been proved to my
satisfaction that the bearer hereof a mulatto
woman named Mary Anne Howard aged about
twenty three years about five feet two Inches
high bright Complexion has long straight
hair no perceptible mark is one of the persons
manumitted by Isaac Paul, Mary Paul
Vachel Brown and Philip Howard by deed
dated the twenty ninth day of June in the
year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred
and Eighteen and that she was raised in
the County aforesaid
    Issued the 6th day of February 1822
