John is 5 ft 2 inches high brown complexion with holes
in her ears for rings
    And was recorded this 27 day of may A D 1861

This is to certify that a negro man now present and
applying for a certificate of freedom named Benjamin
Pierce was born free and raised in Kent County
                                                 John Bordley
Ben Pierce 5 ft 7¾ inches high Trather light complexion
with a large scar across the left hand and also
a scar on the left cheek produced by a burn

And was accordingly recorded    By Jesse K Hines Clk


To the Clerk of the Circuit Court for Kent County

I hereby certify that a negro man now present and
applying for a certificate of freedom named James
Clayton aged about 21 years was born free and raised
in Kent County

And was ac    James is 5 ft 9 inches high of a dark
complexion and has a scar upon his right cheek
