I hereby certify that a negro man now present and
applying for a certificate of freedom named John Crossly
aged about twenty one years was born free and raised
in Kent County
    Nov 5/61                                    Joseph Boyd
    John is 5 ft 7½ inches high of a dark complexion
    And was accordingly recorded this 5 Nov 1861

    I hereby certify that a negro man now present and
applying for a certificate of freedom named Samuel
Anderson is the identical negro named in a Deed of
manumission from me to sundry negroes in the year 1860
and recorded in Liber J.F.G. No 1 pages &c
May 20/62                                                   H. W. Carvill
Sam is 5 ft 10 inches high of a dark complexion with a small
scar over the right eye and is about 44 years
And was accordingly recorded this 20 May A D 1862

for a certificate of freedom named James Henry
Ringgold aged about 22 years was born free and raised in
Kent County

James Henry is 5 feet 5 inches high of dark complexion
with a burnt Scar on the left arm and very considerably
marked with the scars of the Small Pox
