CONSTRUCTION TRADES BOARD

Originating as the Board of Electrical Examiners, the Construction Trades Board was established by the Board of County Commissioners in March 2025.

The Board licenses electricians, and processes all electrical license applications and fees as required by the Board of County Commissioners. Grievances related to electrical licenses and electrical work are heard by the Board, which may act as an arbiter between contractors and homeowners.

Prior to performing electrical work in their own home, homeowners must apply for a Homeowner's permit and pass the related exam.

The Board also has the power and duties to administer the Board of Building Appeals provided for in the International Building Code, the International Residential Code for One and Two-Family Dwellings, and the International Energy Conservation Code.
