On motion of Mr. Markey,
The bill to indemnify Governor Bradford for destruction
of his property;
Was considered and laid over informally.
Mr. Soper, from the committee on Ways and Means, im-
ported favorably Senate bill entitled, an Act to authorize the
'Governor, Comptroller and Treasurer to exchange or sell a
portion of the stocks standing to the credit of the sinking
fund, and invest the proceeds thereof,
Which was read the second time.
Also, the Senate bill entitled, an Act to amend an Act en-
titled, "an Act to provide bounty for soldiers entering the
service of the United States to fill the quotas of Maryland
under the calls of the President of the United States of De-
cember, 1864, and under future calls," passed at January
session, 1865, chapter S3, so. as to exempt the bonds therein
proposed to be issued by the Treasurer of the State, from
{State, county and municipal taxation;
Which was real the second time.
Also, the Senate bill entitled, an Act to authorize the Gov-
ernor, Comptroller and Treasurer to exchange or sell the
bank stock belonging to or standing to the credit of the sev-
eral counties of the State for the free schools or other schools,
and to invest the proceeds thereof;
Which was read. the second time,
On motion of Mr. Lee,
The consideration of the contested election case of Spence
vs. Franklin, was made the order of the day for Wednesday,
at one o'clock.
On motion of Mr. Markey,
The Senate bill entitled, an Act to regulate and make uni-
form the compensation of county commissioners;
Was taker, up for consideration on its third reading.
The bill having been read the third time, was passed "by
yeas and nays as follow;
