Said Dill was then returned to the Senate. The bill entitled, an Act to provide additional funds for the support of free public schools, in the State of Maryland; Was taken up for consideration upon its second reading. . The pending amendment submitted by Mr. Valliant, was withdrawn. Mr. Usilton submitted the following amendment: Section 3. And be it enacted, That the money thus levied and collected from the white taxable inhabitants, be applied to white schools, and that collected from the colored people be applied to the colored schools; Which was decided in the negative. The bill having been read the second time, it was ordered to be engrossed for a third reading. The Secretary of the Senate, presented resolutions, relative to restoring to certain members of the General Assembly the elective franchise; Which were read the first time. The Senate resolutions, authorizing the sale of the State's interest in the public works; |
