duty it shall be to examine and report upon all contracts
made for printing, stationery, and purchases for the public
offices and the Library, and all expenditures therein, and
upon all matters of alleged abuse in expenditures to which
their attention may be called by resolution of either House
of the General Assembly.

We have appointed on the part of the Senate Messrs. Sny-
der, Clarke, Fields, Earle, and Henry.

Which was read.

The Speaker laid before the House the Annual Report of
the Comptroller of the Treasury ; which was read and re-
ferred to the Committee on Ways and Means.

On motion of Mr. Biddle,

Leave was granted to Messrs, Biddle, Hammond, Came-
ron, Seibert, German, Owens, of Calvert, and Wobb, to re-
port a bill to repeal Art. 4 of the Code of Public Local Laws,
title " Guano," and chap. 295 Laws of 1868, and to re-enact
the same, with amendments.

On motion of Mr. Standish,

Leave was granted to the Allegauy delegation to introduce
a bill for tho better protection of bass in the north branch of
the Potomac river.

Also, leave to the Allegauy delegation to introduce a bill,
with reference, to the national road west of Cumberland.

On motion of Mr. Meekins,

Leave was granted to the Dorchester delegation to intro-
duce a bill to change the number of Justices of the Peace for
Fork District, No. 1, for Dorchester county.

On motion of Mr. Gordy,

Leave was granted to the Wicomico delegation and Mr.
Purnell, of Worcester, to report a bill authorizing the Com-
missioners of Wicomico county to appoint trustees of the
Alms-house in said county.

On motion of Mr. Loker,

Leave was granted to the St. Mary's delegation and Mr.
Mitchell, of Charles, to introduce a bill to increase the num-
ber of Magistrates in St. Mary's county.

On motion of Mr. Marbury,

Leave was granted to the Prince George's delegation to
