Mr. Earle, from a Committee of Conference, submitted the following REPORT. The Committee of Conference on the disagreeing votes of the two Houses on the bill entitled an Act to pay to William Knabe & Co. the sum of thirteen hundred and fifty dollars, for one grand piano and extra cloth cover, furnished to the Executive Mansion, in February, 1870, respectfully report that they have had the matter under consideration, and re- commend the adoption of the accompanying amendments to .said bill. JAMES T. EARLE, JNO. K. LONGWELL, JNO. LEE CARROLL, E. J. HENKLE, F. STONE, JNO. STAYLOR. AMENDMENTS PROPOSED. Strike out all after the word "Maryland," in the first line of the first section, and insert: "That a Committee of three, two on the part of the House and one on the part of the Senate, to be appointed by the Speaker of the House and the President of the Senate, re- spectively, be, and they are hereby authorized and directed to purchase a suitable piano, of Maryland manufacture, to be placed in the Executive Mansion, and the Comptroller of the Treasury is hereby authorized and directed to issue his warrant upon the Treasurer, directing him to pay to the order of the said Committee, or a majority of them, a sum of money, not exceeding eight hundred dollars, to pay for said piano, and placing the same in the Executive Mansion." Amend the title by striking out all after the word "Act," and inserting ''to appropriate a sum of money for the pur- chase of a piano for the Executive Mansion."
