Mr. Stephenson submitted the following : Section 2, line 9, after "school," insert "by and with the consent of the Senator." Which was adopted. Mr. Compton moved to reconsider the vote by which the said amendment was adopted. Which was determined in the negative. Mr. Stephenson submitted the following amendment: AMENDMENT PROPOSED. In line 11, strike out all after the word "be," to the end of the section, and insert the following: "shall give his bond to the State of Maryland for such amount and with such security as may be approved of by the Principal of said Col- lege, that he will teach school within this State for not less than two years after leaving College; and should any stu- dent neglect or refuse to teach the length of time required by this section, his bond shall be liable." Which was adopted. Mr. Fields submitted the following amendment: AMENDMENT PROPOSED. Section 1, line 5, strike out "twelve," and insert "seven." Which was rejected. Also, the following amendment : AMENDMENT PROPOSED. Strike oat "section 3." Which was rejected by yeas and nays, as follows : AFFIRMATIVE. Messrs. Blake, Miller, Fields, Stephenson—4. NEGATIVE.
