a free bridge over the said river, as near to the site

of the present bridge as convenient and practicable,

and the said county commissioners are hereby au-

thorized to acquire by inquisition, purchase or other-

wise, all the lands and materials necessary for the

construction of said bridge and its abutments, and

for the necessary roads leading to and from the said

bridge, for the convenience of the public travel;

and said bridge, when built, shall be maintained

and kept in proper repair by the said county com-

missioners as a free bridge; provided, that the en-

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That there shall

be appointed annually some competent person to act

SEC. 4. And be it further enacted, That the County

Commissioners of Anne Arundel county be, and

they are hereby authorized, and required to levy on

such manner, and at such time or times as they may

deem best, such sums of money as may be necessary

to carry out and secure the provisions of this act, a

portion thereof at least to be levied at their regular

levy term for the present year.
