William and Mary by the grace of God of England Scotland ffrance & Ireland King and Queen def(enders) of the faith &c. To Michael: Clugston Merchant of this County greeting Whereas Alexandere Hillis of the said County deceased, did by his last will leave you the said Michael: Clugston in full trust and power to take Care of his Estate in this County, so as to convey the same to the wife of the sd Hillis deceased. Wee do therefore grant unto you the said Michael: Clugston full power and authority, to Admr. all and singular, the goods chattels and credits of the said deceased, and to demand colect and leavy, all and all manner of debt and debts, due and owing to the sd dcd and well and faithfully to dispose of the same. And out of the goods chattels & Credits of the (sd) deceased, which have may or shall come to your hands or posessions, well and truly to pay y debts due by the sd deceased so far forth as the Said will extend and the law will Charge you according to the true value of the sum thereof. You having first taken your Oath well and truly to Ad(minister) the same, and to make or cause to be made a True and perfect Inventory of all and Singular (the) goods chattels and credits of the said deceased, which have may or shall come to your hands possession or knowledge (appraised in money) and a true & just account of and upon your Administrations th(ereof) and to exhibit both into our County Court where wills are proved Touching which Inventory (you) are presently assigned to perform or at the furthest at or before the second tuesday in March (now) next ensueing and an account within a twelve months from the date of these presents. And Lastly we do hereby impower, Constitute, ordain and appoint you the said Michael Clugston (sole?) Administrator of all and singular the goods chattels and Credits of the said deceased this 11th: day of November in the second year of their Maties Reign. John: Emmet and mr: Lawrence: Crawford, to appraise the goods and Chattels of Alexander: Hillis deceased, you having first taken your Oaths before mr ffrancis Jenkins one of their Maties: Justices of the peace for this County, and you are to certifie the true (inventory?) of the said goods & chattels (appraised in money) under your hands and Seals into our County (Court) to be holden the second tuesday in January next after the date hereof.
