This Indenture made the Six and twentieth day of July in the thirteenth yeare of the dominion
of the right honble. Charles absolute Lord & propry of the Province of Maryland & Avalon Lord Baron of
Baltemore, and in the year of our Lord God One thousand six hundred eighty and eight. Between Henry
Smith of Somerset County in the Province of Maryland gentl and Anne his wife of the One part & Joseph
Grey of the County and Province aforesd planter of the other part Wittnesseth That the said Henry Smith and
Anne his wife for and in Consideration of four thousand pounds of tobacco to them in hand paid, by the sd
Joseph:Grey, before the ensealing and delivery hereof, the receit whereof they do hereby acknowledge
( )ingly, and themselves therewith fully satisfied, have granted bargained, Sold, aliened, enfeofed & confirmed
(and b)y these presents doe fully clearly and absolutely, grant, bargain, sell enfeoffe alien & confirm unto the sd
Joseph Grey and his Heirs, all that tract persel or devident of Land now called Labour, being part of a tract
or parcel of Land formerly Surveyed for James: Hinderson called America, and then laid out for three
hundred acres of Land more or less, scituate lying and being in Nusswaddux neck, and on the Eastermost side
of a Creek called deviding Creek, begining at a marked Cypresse, being the Corner tree, that devides betwixt
the Land of James:Hinderson & John:King called Affrica, and runing South & by west for breadth sixty perches
(to a) white Oak, and from the said white Oak, East & by south for length two hundred Sixty Seven pearches
(to a) marked tree, and from thence North and by East Sixty pearches to a marked tree, and from that marked
(tree) West & by North to the first bounder Conteining One hundred Acres of Land more or less, and all and
(singular) the wayes proffits, Comodities & appurtenances whatsoever to the said land belonging or in any
(wise) appertaining, and all deeds, Pattents writings & evidences whatsoever belonging to the said One
hundred Acres of land Called Labour. To have and to hold the said One hundred Acres of Land & premises
(with) the appurtenances herein or hereby mentioned or intended to be granted bargained & Sold unto him the
(said) Joseph:Grey his Heirs & Assigns to the only propper use & behoof of the said Joseph:Grey his Heirs
and Assigns for ever. And the said Henry: Smith for himselfe his Heirs, Execcutors and Admrs. and for
the said Anne his Wife doth covenant grant and agree to & with the said Joseph: Grey his Heirs & Assigns
by these presents that they the said Henry and Anne his Wife or One of them, have in him her or them
( )s, in and to the land and premises aforesaid a good sure perfect, and absolute estate of inheritance in
fee Simple, to them and their Heirs, and that they or one of them have full power and lawfull authority
to convey the same to the said Joseph: Grey and his Heirs in manner and forme aforesaid, for and not
withstanding any Act by him the said Henry or Anne his Wife or any of them to the Contrary done
( ) for and not withstanding any Such act done as aforesd, he the said Joseph Grey his Heirs and Assigns
(shall) and may from henceforth for ever hereafter quietly and peaceably, have, hold, occupy posess and
(enjoy) the said land and premises, and every part and persel thereof free and Clear, freely and clearly
(acqui)tted exonerated & discharged of and from all and all manner of bargains, sales guifts, grants, titles,
(troub)les, Charges, debts and incumbrances whatsoever, and off and from all Joyntures, Dowries, and off
(and) from the title of dower, of the said Anne. Thereunto and Service which from henceforth shall become
(due) and payable to the chief Lord of the fee Or fee of the premises Only excepted and foreprised And further
(the) said Henry: Smith, for himselfe his Heirs Execcutors & Admrs, and for the said Anne his Wife, doth
warrant grant and agree, to and with the said Joseph Grey, his Heirs and Assigns by these presents that
the said Henry: Smith and Anne his Wife and their Heirs and all other person or persons whatsoever
( ) State having or lawfully claiming in or to the premises or any part or percel Thereof, by from or under
(them) or either of them shall and will at any time hereafter dureing the space of Seven years from
hence forth to be accompted, at the reasonable request, and at the Cost & Charges in the Law of the sd
Joseph: Grey make and grant Such further and other assurances and Assurances & Conveyances in
the Law, and for the further and more perfect assureing and conveying the said premises
