( 122 ) James: Duncan Plt. Somerset County Ss Abraham Knott of this County was attached to answer unto James Abraham Knott Dft } Dunkin Admr of all & singular the goods & Chattels of Wm: Pattent late of the Said ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ County decd in a plea of debt - - - - And whereupon the Said James by Samuel Alexander his Attorney Saith that the Said Abraham the 8th day of ffebruary in the year of or Lord 1691/2 at Snow hill within the Jurisdiction of this Court by his Certain Bill Obligatory, which with the Seal of the Said Abraham the Said James bringeth here into Court ye date whereof is the day & year aforesd Did bind himself his Heirs Extors and Admrs to pay unto the Said William his Heirs Executors Admrs or Assigns the just & full Sum of one thousand pounds of good Merchantable tobacco in Caske at or before the 10th day of October next ensueing the date of the sd Bill Nevertheless the Said Abraham the Sd Sum of 1000 lb of tobacco to the sd Wm in his lifetime nor to the Said James. Since the death of the Sd Wm.hath not paid but to doe the Same hath refused, And doth Still refuse to ye damage of the Said James of 2000 lbs of tobacco And thereof he brings his Sute &ca. Alexandr pr Qr. Plegs &ca. Jno Doe Rich Roe } Non est factum & puts himself upon the Court . pr Worthington. And the plt also Samll. Alexander — This bill bindeth me Abraham:Knott of Somerset County in Maryland Carpenter to pay or Cause to be paid to William: Patten. his Heirs Admrs or Assigns the just & full Sum of one thousand pounds of good Merchantable Tobacco in Caske at or before the tenth day of October next to the true prformance I doe here bind me my Heirs Executors and Admrs. as Witness my hand Seal this 8th. day of ffebruary 1691/2 Abraham Knott ❂ Sealed Being prsent William: Shanklin. And therefore Order past for the Same wth Cost alias Executio Murmurenough plt Strawbridge Dft } To the Worll. their Maties Justices of the Peace for the County of Somerset in Court Sitting. The humble Petion of Elizabeth Murmurenough humbly Showeth that the last Sabath or Lords day within Night. John:Strawbridge of Back Creek Then Came to ye Petioners house your Petioners husband being at Wiccocomocoe the Said Strawbridge in a most impudent rude & boisterous manner, did assault yr Petioner, thereby intending an adulterous accon on yr Petioner to Comitt And though the Said Strawbridge did use Such violent means to Seduce & overcome yr Petioner yett blessed be God after much endeavours yr Petioner made her escape from her owne house to mrs Pools in a most Strange and [anraged] Condition being much torn & abused as was visible to the Spectators. Therefore yr Petioner humbly prays that the Said Strawbridge may appear before yr Worps to answer ye prmises, with a Sumons for ye Evidences & as in duty bound yr Petioners shall pray &ca. The plt & Defendt in this Case appearing with the Evidences who were examined the sd Strawbridge Comitting him Self to the judgmt. of the Court. which Court did Order the Said Strawbridge to give bond for his good behaviour & to pay Costs of Sute. // in this Case expended . // Whereupon, Came the sd Strawbridge & his Securities Saml. Alexander & Edward Jones and the Said Strawbridge did Confess him Self to owe & be indebted to their Maties in the Sum of tenn pounds Sterling & his Securities in the Sum of five pounds a piece like money due to be leavied on their goods & Chattels Lands & Tennements for their Maties uses &ca. — — — — — — — — — — — —
