1444 LAWS. OF MARYLAND.

majority of them, according to such rules as may be adopted by
the by-laws of said company, and the board of directors may
meet as often as may be necessary for the transaction of the
business of the company.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That the president and directors
of said corporation, or a majority of them, shall have power to
make and adopt, alter and amend such by-laws, rules and regu-
lations for the direction and management of such company as
may, in their judgment, from time to time, be necessary for
the purpose of the corporation; provided, they are not incon-
sistent with the Constitution and laws of this State and the
provisions of this charter; and the president and directors of
said company, or a majority of them, shall have the power
to employ all such agents and servants as, in their judgment,
may be necessary for the construction, maintenance, repair and
preservation of the railway and other property of said com-
pany, and the running of cars and transportation of passen-
gers thereon and for the transaction of the business for which
it is incorporated.

SEC. 8. And be it enacted, That the company hereby incor-
porated shall have the power to make, construct and main-
tain a railroad with such track or tracks and sidings as they
may deem expedient for the transportation of passengers, ex-
press and freight in cars propelled by electricity, in Prince
George's county, Maryland, between the intersection of Penn-
sylvania avenue and the line of the District of Columbia east,
and Richie station, on the Chesapeake Beach railroad, in said
Prince George's county, with such laterals or branches as said
corporation may deem advantageous to construct and operate
in said county. And also have power to generate electricity
and sell or lease the same for illuminating purposes, power
and for all other purposes to which electricity or magnetism
may be applied, and for other disposition of the same in said
Prince George's county.

SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That the said company be and is
hereby authorized, in order to construct said railway on such
land or property of any individual or corporation, or on such
private right of any corporation or individual, as it may be
necessary to occupy in order to construct said railway be-
tween the points authorized by this Act, and where the consent
of the owners of such ground and property cannot be obtained,
they may obtain same by condemnation, in the same manner
as is provided in section 167 of article 23 of the Code of Public
General Laws, and said corporation shall have the power,
subject to the approval of the County Commissioners and of
