CHAPTER 145.

 

A FURTHER additional supplement, relating to
tolls, to an act, entitled an act to incorporate a
company for the purpose of cutting and making
a canal between the river Delaware and the
Chesapeake Bay, passed on the seventh day of
December, seventeen hundred and ninety-nine,
being the act of November session, seventeen
hundred and ninety-nine, chapter sixteen.

Passed Feb.
19, 1864.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That so much of the said original
acts of incorporation above referred to, as in the
ninth section thereof provides that every boat or
vessel which has not commodities on board to pay
the sum of four dollars, shall pay so much as, with
the commodities on board, will yield the sum afore-
said; and every empty boat or vessel four dollars,
except as therein excepted, shall be altered and
amended by this act so as to allow the Chesapeake
and Delaware Canal Company to charge on all
such boats or vessels, as follows: On all such boats
or vessels under forty tons, the sum of four dol-
lars; on all such boats or vessels of forty tons and
under eighty tons, the sum of six dollars; on all
such boats or vessels of eighty tons and under one
hundred and twenty tons, the sum of eight dollars,
and on all such boats or vessels of and over one
hundred and twenty tons, the sum of ten dollars.

amended.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted by the General
Assembly of Maryland, That so much of the act of
eighteen hundred and thirty-eight, chapter ninety-
nine, and entitled "A further additional supple-
ment to an act entitled an act to incorporate a
company for the purpose of cutting and making a
canal between the river Delaware and the Chesa-
peake Bay," as by the first section thereof provides
that the toll on square or round timber shall not
exceed the rate of one dollar per hundred cubic
feet, shall be altered and amended so as to allow
the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal Company to
charge and collect a toll on square or round tim-
ber not exceeding the rate of one dollar and twen-
ty-five cents per hundred cubic feet on said article.
