1813.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That all securities, promises,
contracts, assurances, deeds and lawful acls whatsoever
heretofore made or done, or hereafter to be made by or to
the said Aron Meyers Rothschild by the name of Aron
Meyers, shall be of full force and effect, any law or usage
to the contrary notwithstanding.

CHAPTER 259.

 

An act to facilitate the collection of the State lazes in
Saint Mary's County.

Passed March
5, 1844.

Whereas it has been represented to this General Assem-
bly, that the collectors of the taxes levied for the use of
this Stale, in Saint Mary's county, were appointed in the
months of August and September, in the year eighteen
hundred and forty-three, when by the first section of the
act of December session, eighteen hundred and forty-
two, chapter two hundred and sixty-nine, the several
and respective county, district and city authorities, were
directed to appoint such collectors, on the first Tuesday of
April or soon thereafter, in each and every year; and
whereas, doubts are entertained in reference to the vali-
dity of the aforesaid appointments, the responsibility of the
bonds given by the said collectors, and their power to en-
force the collection of the said taxes; for remedy whereof
and to remove such doubts. Therefore,

Preamble.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the appointment by the county authorities
of Saint Mary's county, of the several collectors of the
taxes levied for the use of this State, in said county, be and
the same is hereby confirmed, and made valid, and the said
collectors are hereby declared to be clothed with all the
powers, rights, and previleges of the collectors who may
nave been appointed in strict compliance with the said act
of assembly or any other existing law, upon the subject,
and the bonds of the said collectors, and the parties thereto
are hereby declared to be liable for aril the acts and pro-
ceedings of the said collectors, according to the tenor and
effect of the said bonds, as if the appointments had been

made in strict conformity with the law.
Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That before this act shall
take effect, the sureties of the said collectors shall file with
the levy court or commissioners of the tax of said county
their assent in writing to the provisions thereof.
