such care and who do not have the financial ability to
obtain care in private nursing homes.
A joint effort by the State and the City of
Baltimore in erecting a nursing home on the grounds of
Baltimore City Hospital would greatly benefit many aged
of the City who need residential nursing care; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, That
the Governor of Maryland [[and]], with the advice of the
Mayor of Baltimore City [[are]] is requested to create a
commission to study the feasibility of building a nursing
home for the aged on the grounds of the Baltimore City
Hospital and to report its findings to the Governor, the
Mayor of Baltimore City, and to the Maryland General
Assembly by January 1, 1977; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be sent to
Governor Marvin Mandel and to Mayor William Donald
Schaefer.

A Senate Joint Resolution concerning
Federal Fire Academy
FOR the purpose of requesting [[the Governor to appoint
an executive and legislative task force]] the
Maryland delegation in Congress to make every effort
to convince the federal government to locate the
recently authorized Federal Fire Academy in
Maryland.
The federal government has recently enacted
legislation to establish a Fire Academy for training and
educating firefighters from all 50 states. This much
needed Academy will provide the brave men and women who
protect us from the ravages and destruction of fire the
training and the new techniques that are needed to save
lives.
The State of Maryland would be an advantageous site
for this new Academy. Located near the nation's capital,
Maryland has both convenient transportation facilities
and a spirit of cooperation that would insure the success
of the Academy; now, therefore, be it
