EXECUTIVE ORDER OF AUGUST 30, 1979

ASSIGNMENT OF EXECUTIVE AND ADMINISTRATIVE
DEPARTMENTS, OFFICES, BOARDS, AND COMMISSIONS
TO PRINCIPAL DEPARTMENTS OF STATE GOVERNMENT
WHEREAS, By Executive Order dated September 4, 1969, as
amended, a Board of Ethics was established within the
Department of Personnel of the State government
pursuant to Section 14A of Article 41 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland; and
WHEREAS, By Chapter 513 of the Laws of Maryland of 1979,
the General Assembly enacted the Maryland Public Ethics
Law which created the State Ethics Commission and
repealed Section 14A of Article 41; and
WHEREAS, The General Assembly did not assign the State
Ethics Commission to a principal department of the
State;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, HARRY HUGHES, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF
MARYLAND, BY VIRTUE OF THE AUTHORITY VESTED IN ME BY
ARTICLE II OF THE CONSTITUTION AND IN ACCORDANCE WITH
ARTICLE 41, SECTION 15C OF THE ANNOTATED CODE OF
MARYLAND, HEREBY PROMULGATE THE FOLLOWING ORDER,
AMENDING EXECUTIVE ORDER 01.01.1971.02, AS AMENDED BY
EXECUTIVE ORDER 01.01.1976.06, EFFECTIVE AS OF JULY 1,
1979:
1. The Maryland Commission for Latin American
Affairs is hereby assigned to the Department of
Economic and Community Development;
2. The Governor's Commission on Migratory Labor
is hereby assigned to the Department of Human
Resources;
3. The Greater Laurel Hospital Authority is
hereby assigned to the Department of Health and
Mental Hygiene;
[4. The Governor's Commission to Study Maryland
Folklife is hereby assigned to the Department of
Economic and Community Development.] AND
4. THE STATE ETHICS COMMISSION IS HEREBY
ASSIGNED TO THE EXECUTIVE DEPARTMENT. ANY FUNDS
APPROPRIATED TO THE BOARD OF ETHICS SHALL BE
TRANSFERRED TO THE STATE ETHICS COMMISSION BY
APPROVED BUDGET AMENDMENT PURSUANT TO SECTION 8
OF ARTICLE 15A OF THE ANNOTATED CODE OF MARYLAND.
