112 Maryland Prince Georges County sct I hereby certify that the bearer hereof a black man who calls himself Stephen Queen measuring five feet six inches high with a scar on his right cheek and a scar on his right hand above the middle finger about thirty four years old is a freeman and obtained his freedom by filing a Petition in Prince Georges County against john Ashton as by the Dockets of said County will more fully appear In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the seal of said County Court this 23.d day of Aug.t 1819 Aq Beall Clk Maryland Prince Georges County Sc.t I hereby certify that the bearer hereof a black man who calls himself John Brown about forty three years of age five feet eight inches high appears to have both forefingers burnt about the middle joint very much marked with the small pox is a freeman and became entitled to his freedom by deed of manumission begining date the 23.d day of August 1819 from I S Canby and duly acknowledged & recorded in my office In Testimony whereof I hereunto set my hand & seal this 23.th of Aug.t 1819 Test Aquila Beall Clk |
