       That State of Maryland Prince Georges County to sc.t

            I hereby certify that the bearer hereof a
       Black man by the name of Abraham about
       twenty six years old five feet six and a half
       inches high marked in the face by the small
       pox and having two scars on the right knee
       (who was born the slave of the late Robert
       Waters and raised in his family) is a free man
       and obtained his freedom from the said Robert
       Waters by deed bearing date the twenty seventh
       day of February seventeen hundred and ninety
       eight duly executed acknowledged and recorded  
       in my office

                     Given under my hand and seal of office
                     this thirteenth day of August eighteen
                     hundred and sixteen
