            I hereby certify that the bearer hereof
       a bright mulatto man by the name
       of John about twenty eight years old
       five feet five inches high having a
       long scar on the left side of his nose near
       the eye is a freeman being the descendant
       of a Woman by the name of Nell who was
       manumitted by Benjamin Clarke deceased
       of the County aforesaid as appears
       by the deed of Manumission
