Anne Arundel County Court Certificates of Freedom, 1810-1831

    Maryland, Anne Arundel County to wit
             I hereby Certify to all whom it doth or
may concern that it hath been proved to my
satisfaction that the bearer hereof a negro
man named James Johnson aged about
twenty years about five feet seven Inches high
dark Complexion a small scar upon the
middle joint of the little finger on the left hand
is one of the persons manumitted by George
Johnson by deed dated the fourteenth day of
April in the year Eighteen hundred and twelve,
and raised in the County aforesaid
           Issued the 9th day of December 1820


Maryland, Anne Arundel County to wit  I hereby
Certify to all whom it doth or may concern that it
hath been proved to my satisfaction that the bearer
hereof a negro man named Ely aged about
twenty three years about five feet seven Inches
high dark Complexion is one of the persons
manumitted by Charles Hammond of Charles by
deed dated the seventh day of may Eighteen hundred
and two, that his freedom Commenced in the year
Eighteen hundred and sixteen, and that he was raised
in the County aforesaid
           Issued the 22d day of December 1820


        Maryland Anne Arundel County to wit
                  I hereby Certify to all whom it doth
or may concern that it hath been proved to my
satisfaction that the bearer hereof a negro
man named Zack aged about twenty three
years about five feet seven Inches high
yellowish Complexion a small scar in the
forehead and one upon the nose is one of
