Anne Arundel County Court Certificates of Freedom, 1810-1831

State of Maryland Anne Arundel County to wit
              I hereby Certify to all whom it doth or
may concern that it hath been proved to my
satisfaction that the bearer hereof a Coloured
man named John Smith aged about twenty
six years about five feet nine Inches high
dark Complexion, has a scar over the left
eye was free born and raised in the County
aforesaid
    Issued the 1st day of april 1823


    Maryland Anne Arundel County to wit: 
                I hereby Certify to all whom it doth
or may concern that it hath been proved to my
satisfaction that the bearer hereof a mulatto
woman named Nanny (commonly called
Nanny Mahand) aged about fifty seven
years about four feet Eleven Inches high
brown Complexion a scar over the left
eye is one of the persons manumitted by
Charles Carroll of Carrollton by deed dated
the Eleventh day of march Eighteen hundred
and six
    Issued the 22d day of may 1823


    Maryland Anne Arundel County to wit: 
            I hereby Certify to all whom it doth
or may Concern that it hath been proved to my
satisfaction that the bearer hereof named
Charles Mahand aged about twenty one
years about five feet six and an half
Inches high bright Complexion is one of
