Received on the day of the date above mentioned the sum of five dollars it being the full consideration money within mentioned Jno Ridout (seal) Anne Arundel County Sct On this twenty first day of November 1853 personally appears John Ridout party to the within instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the state of Maryland for the said County and acknowledges the same to be his act and deed for the purposes within mentioned and the negro man within named to be henceforth manumitted and discharged from all services to him or to claiming under him and to be free and manumitted according to the Act of Assembly in such case made and provided Acknowledged before Jno G Taylor I hereby bargain & sell my negro man George Brown for value received to Doctor John Ridout of Annapolis & I Execute this instrument as an evidence that George Brown has been released to the said Ridout as his property & I execute the same in my own rights & as attorney in fact of my husband Hamilton Bowie by vertue of his letter of Attorney to me witness this 1 april 1853 Robert J Brent Mary Bowie (seal) Recorded the 21st day of November 1853 |
