56 Caroline County to wit Be it remembered that on this 25 day of August 1812 I delivered to negro moses therein named a Certificate as follows Viz Maryland sc Caroline County to wit Whereas heretofore to wit on the seventh day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eleven James E Imbert of Caroline County by Deed of manumission duly executed acknowledged and Recorded amongst the Records of Caroline County manumitted and set free a certain negro man called Moses to be free and at liberty from and after the date of the said manumission And whereas the said negro man called Moses hath made application to me for a certificate of his freedom agreeably to the act of assembly in such case made and provided and being satisfied by the Oath of Aquilla Vinson that the said negro man called Moses to whom this Certificate is delivered is the identical person mentioned by that name in the manumission above recited I do therefore grant his said application and hereby Certify that agreeably to the age expressed in the manumission afd the said Moses is about twenty seven years of age he is five feet seven inches high stout made and healthy strong well- looking man was (from his own information) raised in Queen Anns County is of a tolerable black complexion has a scar in the left Eyebrow a large scar Just below the Elbow of his right arm party divided and no other notable marks that I can discover In Testimony whereof I have hereto set my hand and affixed the public seal of my office this twenty fifth day of september August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twelve Tho Richardson Clerk (seal) of Caroline County Court |
