years of age and was raised in Caroline County afd  he is five
feet three inches and three fourths of an inch high stout
and well made tolerable black complexion has a small scar
between his Eyebrows and another on his left cheek and
no other notable marks which I can discover.  In Testimony
                   whereof I have hereto set my hand and
                   affixed the public seal of my office this thirtieth
    (seal)       day of March in the year of our Lord one
                    thousand eight hundred & thirteen

Caroline County to wit  whereas on the twenty fifth day of
November in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred
and two Delkan Thompson of Caroline County by
Deed of manumission duly executed acknowledged
and recorded amongst the records of Caroline County
afd did manumit and set free a negro man named
Jim to be free from and after the first day of January
eighteen hundred and thirteen  And whereas the said
negro man called Jim hath this day made application
to me for a Certificate of his freedom agreeably to the act
of assembly in such case made and provided and being
satisfied by the Oath of John Diggins that the said negro
man called Jim for whom this Certificate is made is
the identical person mentioned in the manumission
afd.   I do therefore Grant his said application and
hereby Certify that from the age expressed in the manumission
afd the said negro man called Jim is about
thirty six years of age was raised partly in Caroline
County afd he is five feet five Inches high of midling
make light complexion or dark yellow has a large
scar on the under part of the left arm near his
shoulder and another one between the shoulder &
Elbow and one between the Elbow and Wrist and
no other notable marks that I can discover
                      dated 9th June 1813
