61 Sept 4 deld this day to negro Phill a certificate of Freedom manumitted by Airus Kenton & proved by Hy Kenton March 28 1814 This day delivered to negro Ned a certificate of his freedom manumitted & proved by Colo Wm Whiteley state of Maryland Caroline County to wit Whereas on the nineteenth day of May in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and ten John Ball of Caroline County afs.d by a Deed of manumission duly executed acknowledged and Recorded amongst the Records of the County aforesaid did manumit and set free a negro man named Jacob to be free in two years and seven months from the date of the said manumission. And Whereas the said negro man named Jacob hath made application to me for a certificate of his freedom agreeably to the act of assembly in such case made and provided and being satisfied by the Oath of John Ball of this County aforesaid; I do therefore grant his said application and hereby certify that from the term service expressed in the manumission aforesaid the said negro man named Jacob is free and that the said negro man named Jacob was raised in Caroline County; he is five feet six Inches and three fourths of an Inch high very black and has no artificiel mark upon which I can discover In Testimony whereof I have hereto set my hand and affixed the public seal of my office this 27.th day of July in the year of our Lord 1814 (County) Tho Richardson Clk ( seal) of Caroline County Court July 27.th 1814. This day delivered to negro Jacob a certificate of his freedom manumitted by John Ball & proved by John Ball |
