hereby repealed, and the following enacted in lieu
thereof:
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the. General Assemble of
Maryland, That the Board of Visitors of the Wash-
ington University of Baltimore be and they are
hereby authorized and empowered to use the real
estate, held in trust by them, and situated on the
northwest corner of Calvert and Saratoga streets in
the City of Baltimore, as a basis of credit, to obtain a
sum of money not exceeding fifteen thousand dollars,
in addition to the ground rents already reserved on
said property, either by creating a ground rent
thereon, or by mortgage thereof; the said sum so
raised to be appropriated to the payments of the debts
of the said University, occasioned by the additions to
and the improvements of the buildings upon said
property, made for the purposes of said University.
And the Board of Visitors aforesaid, or a majority ol
them, are hereby authorized and empowered to con-
stitute the Dean of said University, their true and
lawful attorney, for them and in their name, to exe-
cute snch deed or conveyance of the said property
as may be deemed necessary or expedient to accom-
plish the object aforesaid.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect from and after the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 31.
AN ACT to exempt Caroline and Kent counties
from the operation of chapter two hundred and
thirty-one, of the Public Local Laws, entitled " an
Act to protect fish and wild fowl in the waters of"
Queen Anne's, Kent, Caroline and Harford coun-
ties," passed at January session, eighteen hundred
and seventy.
